Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar is on the verge of history as the first woman to be appointed Chief justice of the federal republic of Nigeria. Her name was submitted to the senate for confirmation on wednesday by President Jonathan. Her appointment will be a big step in addressing the discrimination against women and the generally unfairness of the legal system in favour of men.
