An 11 year old boy, Liam Corcoran flew from Manchester in the UK to Rome, Italy on a Jet2.com flight with no ticket, no passport and no money. He passed through five security checkpoints without being detected before boarding the Jet2.com flight for Rome on Tuesday. Jet2.com is a low cost airline that operates to Eastern and Western Europe.
The Guardian reports he ran away from his mother while she was shopping close to the Airport. He apparently walked to the Airport on foot. Once there he followed another family through the checkpoints and onto the plane. Aboard the flight, passengers alerted airline crew to Liam, the Captain notified police at Manchester airport who alerted his mother that he had been found.
Staffers involved have been suspended pending investigation into the matter.
