A former member of the Enugu independent electoral commission Hon Mathias Nweze woke up from sleep around 11pm last Saturday when he noticed his generator had gone off twice. Suspecting he was about to become the victim of an armed robbery attack he rushed to get his pump action gun and and fired several times in the direction of the generator, unfortunately hitting one of his two wives, leaving her with fatal injuries which eventually led to her death.
His neighbours are telling a different story. They claim that Mathias gave his late wife money to cook some delicacy for him and went berserk when when he realised she did not cook the ''delicacy'' but served him ''corn mill'' instead. He rushed to his room in anger, grabbed his gun and shot her.
enugu state police public relations officer Ebere Amaranzu confirmed the report, adding that the suspect had been detained by the police.
