POLICE OFFICIALLY DROP MURDER CHARGE AGAINST BANKER SUSPECTED TO HAVE KILLED LASTMA OFFICIAL

Mrs Yinka Johnson, the staff of Standard IBTC who was alleged to have killed a LASTMA official while on duty has been freed of the murder charge brought against her by the Nigerian police. On further investigation of the case, the Police, LASTMA officials, eyewitnesses and members of the press visited the scene of the accident on Monday and determined that it was not Mrs Johnson's car that hit and killed the deceased LASTMA official, Hammed Balogun. The Police officially dropped the case after convincing eye witness accounts, coupled with video and pictures of how the accident happened.

She was instead charged with one-count of reckless driving and made an appearance in court today.She was granted bail and the case was adjourned by the judge till the 3rd of September.

Yinka Johnson , a staff of Standard IBTC bank allegedly killed a LASTMA official in the course of his duty on Friday along the Lekki-Ajah expressway while trying to escape from law enforcement who apprehended her for driving against traffic.

The incident occurred at Mega city, Ajah. She had been stopped by three LASTMA officials while driving against traffic and in attempting to escape apprehension, crushed Hammed Balogun and took off into Ikota estate where security men barricaded the gates and refused law enforcement entry. The area commander Mr Felix Vhlami had to call for back-up before she could be apprehended.
 The LASTMA official was taken to Germaine hospital where he died from his severe injuries. The banker was taken to Ajiwe police station but has been transferred to CID Panti for further investigation.
According to a source who sent a bb message on blackberry , the real story is not what LASTMA is trying to portray. the bb message reads '' dear all, i am sure we have all heard the story going round about the banker who allegedly killed a lastma officer. Eyewitnesses on the scene insist that the lastma official was infact knocked down by a danfo bus he was trying to accost after he arrested the banker for a traffic offence and whose car was about to  be towed as can be seen from the picture on the lastma website, lastma is trying to skew the story as murder and she is currently in detention. pls note that i have seen her car and it doesn't have a single dent on it. Kindly spread the word and encourage eye witnesses to come forward and give statements at Panti. she is a mother of 3 ( including a 2 month old baby who is with her in detention). it could be anyone''
