Terrorists operating in the northern parts of the country seem to have improved on their homegrown solutions to the pursuit of terrorist activities using improvised explosive devices ( IED's) to cause mayhem on innocent Nigerians. Rocket propelled grenades and rocket launchers will soon replace IED''s as the weapon of choice to continue their deadly activities. The illegal importation of these deadly, long distance weapons through the porous northern borders of the country is seen as a turn in the the practice of terror.
Rocket propelled grenades and rocket launchers are used at a long distance from their actual target enabling attackers to fire them from a safe distance and escape before law enforcement are able to detect their location.
Police spokesman, Frank Mba confirmed the presence of the in the country saying '' we are aware of the presence of rocket launchers.....'', ''i cannot give you details of all we we are doing, but i can authoritatively say we are doing all we can to cut of their supply chain''. The police spokesman added ''also, the hierarchy of INTERPOL, the world's largest police organisation have been having meetings with us in the past few weeks'', ''this shows that even though we are worried, the good news is that the support from home and abroad is helping us to face the security challenges''.
