KOFI ANNAN RESIGNS AS UN-ARAB LEAGUE JOINT ENVOY

The U.N secretary general Ban Ki-Moon today announced the resignation of the UN-league of Arab states joint envoy for the Syrian crisis Kofi Annan. His resignation stems from
the non-implementation of the six-point peace plan drafted to help end the Syrian crisis.
The plan called for an end to the violence, access for humanitarian agencies, release of detainees, the start of inclusive political dialogue and unrestricted access of international media to the country. Despite initial signs of acceptance of the peace plan, there was little or no implementation of it by the Government or the opposition.
