President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday through his spokesman Reuben Abati maintained that he would neither convert nor resign as demanded by Boko Haram as a condition to a ceasefire demanded by the sect in a broadcast on Saturday. The President's spokesman described the calls as ''rude and mere blackmail''. The president cannot be intimidated by any group or individual. The president will never resign. he has the mandate of Nigerians to serve his fatherland and nobody should imagine that he will succumb to blackmail''.
Actually, i'm sure nobody thought he would convert or resign, really. Not even Boko Haram! why even give credence to such ridiculousness by responding? Since the President can't stop them bombing us to smithereens he can at least refuse a direct order for him to convert to Islam? is that his way of showing us he is in charge of the situation? He described the demand by Boko Haram as ''rude''. That is so laughable. Does he think Boko Haram is his junior brother at home or his subordinate in the office at Aso rock? Do these people act like they take orders from him? If the president has nothing better to say, silence is a good option.
