PATIENCE JONATHAN AWARDED TOURISM AMBASSADOR FOR AFRICA

Dame Patience received the award for tourism ambassador for Africa from the United Nations World Tourism Organisation.Its a wonderful thing that she is being recognised for her services to tourism, what i sincerely hope is that all the places she has been travelling to will somehow be of benefit to the common Nigerian. Just kidding, anyway, congrats to hawa first lady.

She believes strongly that the empowerment of women is the most effective tool against discrimination and gender bias.

CHIBUNDU ONUZO WINS BEST BLACK STUDENT OF 2012

She signed a two-book deal with publishing heavy weight Faber&Faber when she was only 19 and still an undergraduate at Kings college London, becoming their youngest ever female author. CNN did a profile on her as part of the channel's coverage of Nigeria at 50. She was also longlisted for the 10,000 Pound Desmond Elliot prize for her book ''The spider king's daughter''. The Desmond Elliot prize is the foremost literary recognition for debut writers. As if all  that was not enough, Chibundu added another feather to her cap by winning the UK's best black student. She was given the accolade at a ceremony at the house of parliament on Thursday, 7th June, 2012.

SPICE GIRLS RE-UNITE IN LONDON FOR ''VIVA FOREVER'' MUSICAL

The members of 90's girl power, super group ''spice girls'' were in London to announce details of a musical based on their songs, a story of fame and friendship that will start showing in the fall.
''Viva forever'' tells the story of four friends whose friendship is tested when their band enters a TV talent show.

The Spice girls are best known for their hit song ''wannabe'' from their first album ''spice'' which sold 28million copies world-wide.

Marie Claire Italia featured behind the scenes pictures at Lagos Fashion and design week organised by Omoyemi Akerele in collaboration with PITTI W in Florence, Italy. The magazine showcased the talented Nigerian designers Lisa Folawiyo, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi and Bridget Awosika alongside Anita Quansah and Omer Asim of Sudan.

ICE-PRINCE, WIZKID AND LIRA NOMINATED FOR BET AWARDS

Hit rapper Ice-prince Zamani and Azonto singer Wizkid were both nominated for best international act in the African category. They will be facing stiff competion for the award with the likes of Sarkodie( Ghana), Lira(South africa), Makobe(Mali) and Camp mulla(Kenya).
 Kanye West had seven nominations while Jayz had five between them for ''The Throne'' project. They were nominated for best goup, best video for ''Niggaz in paris'' and ''Otis'', best collaboration for ''Otis'' and Coca-cola viewers choice award. Kanye other two nominations were for best collaboration on Big Sean's ''Marvin and Chardonnay'' and video director of the year. Beyonce walked away with nominations for best female artist R&B, best video for ''countdown'', best video for ''love on top'', best collaboration with J.Cole for ''party'', video director of the year and Coca-cola viewers choice award.
