A LITERARY STAR IS BORN

Chibundu Onuzu is the first time author of the book The Spider Kings Daughter. The Novel was listed in the Marie claire magazine good book club and was nominated for the Desmond Eliott prize for new fiction, which comes with prize money of 10,000 pounds. Set in Lagos, it's a story about the love between Abike, the spoilt daughter of a rich father and the hawker boy she takes a fancy to. Abike's life is pampered - big mansion, flashy cars and armed guards while the hawker boy lives in a cramped home in the slums with his depressed mum. The book brings to life the disparity in their circumstances and the tenacity of their love.

Chibundu is an undergraduate at Kings college London, she started writing the spider kings daughter when she was 17 and got published at 21.
