CHARLES TAYLOR SENTENCED TO FIFTY YEARS BY THE I.C.C

Former Liberian strongman Charles Taylor was sentenced to fifty years in prison by the International criminal court for his role in the Sierra- Leone civil war. This sentence means he would most likely die in jail since he is presently 64yrs. his list of atrocities and abuse of power include ordering rapes of women, murder, recruitment of child soldiers( he ordered children to kill their parents) and other violent acts. He looks dapper in his pin-striped suit, doesn't he? like a businessman attending an international conference? that's what he really was doing, though. Wonder if he would look as good in an orange prison jumpsuit, or what colour do prisoners in the U.K wear???

3RD MAIN LAND BRIDGE BLOCKED BY PROTESTING UNILAG STUDENTS

Unilag students have blocked the third mainland bridge on the second day of the protest against the change of the institutions name from University of lagos to Moshood Abiola University, they are probably upset cause the name is not as funky. Lets hope Jonathan listens to them.

 The popular Spanish high street store outlet is now open for business in Lagos. heard about it and went to check it out with my sister. have to say i was really excited before i went there , before finding out it was just an outlet. so be warned. ok, got that out of the way , now let me gist you what the shopping experience was like, first the clothes are really cheap! yes, cheap. its like bargain hunting, don't go in with too high expectations and you'll likely walk out with a bargain, i got this  lovely pair of harem pants that will work for day and evening, it was from their main collection so a bit pricey but for the quality not bad.Also bought satin, denim wash shorts, great cut, unbelievable fit, can't wait to rock them. My sister got an amazing dress for just N3,900 and this flouncy, vivid print skirt. Zara is known for their quality and cut, so if you find something, rest assured the fit would be fantastic and the cherry on top - cheap as well.

To the 1% of Nigerians enjoying democracy, President Goodluck and his wife Patience, Dieazani and her colleagues, the National assembly, Government contractors and others close to the seat of Government. These are the people we should wish a happy democracy day too, cause ordinary Nigerians sure aren't enjoying this democracy. The president in his speech to Nigerians this morning re-named the University of Lagos Moshood Abiola University and the students took to the streets. I wonder, were they involved when it was named University of Lagos? Asides the fact that officially it might be called M.A.U but it will still remain University of Lagos to most people.

WHAT TYPE OF SHOPPER ARE YOU

I'm a careful shopper, i window-shop for ages before making a purchase cause i want to be sure im buying the best possible option of whatever item i have my eyes set on and get the best value for money, i regret purchases for months after i'v made them. The last purchase i made was a pair of shoes about 2 weeks ago, it was a last ditch buy, i had gone around so many shops and finally had to settle for a particular pair of heels, i really wasn't in love with. I still tell my self every morning how much i hate the shoe.

My sister on the other hand is a passionate shopper, for her its all about love. When she sees something she wants, she has to have it, if its expensive ,she would make deposits on it for however long it takes. My sister dreams about dresses she should have bought and didn't buy for months. I love shopping with her cause she takes no prisoners. Her take on shopping is if you don't absolutely, head over heels love an item, don't buy it, she always say's ''if its not smoking hot, don't bother''.

SKIN LIGHTENING THE SAFE WAY

Isn't it funny that white women tan to look darker and black women bleach to look fairer! We always want what we don't have!It seems even men are more attracted to fairer skinned women, its not that dark skinned women are not as pretty, its more about the eye catchiness (is that a word) of fair skin, black beauty is usually more subtle so darker women seem to be in an unfair situation when it comes to attracting the opposite sex even if they are prettier than their fairer skinned rival. I think black is beautiful so is fair, every skin tone has its advantages but if you are dark skinned and decide you want lighter skin, its your decision and should be no ones business, the trick is doing it safely, here are a few tips -

- Don't go more than two or three shades lighter - you want your skin to brighten and glow, not change the person you are (you don't want a situation where people walk past you and don't recognise you)

- Steer clear of steroid creams - never, ever use steroids like dermovate and tetnovate and the like. They are prescription drugs which should only be used under the direction of medical personnel. More importantly they thin your skin making you susceptible to stretch marks and early wrinkles.

- Buy creams that have natural lighteners like kojic acid, licorice extract, alpha arbutin and extrapone nutgrass root, they are just as effective as hydroquinone but better because they are natural.

- Take a daily dose of vitamin A, B3(Niacin) and C - They enhance the quality, texture and brightness of your skin.

- Develop an effective scrubbing routine - depending on your skin type, dry skin needs less, oily skin needs more but ideally you should scrub your face two or three times a week and your body at least twice a month.

- Use sunscreen - SPF 50 at the least. it maintains your complexion and keeps the sun from damaging your skin. try neutrogena SPF 70 dry touch with helioplex.

- Never use a ''mixed cream'' - some people mix these potions and sell them as bleaching creams, if you don't know the contents of a skin potion don't ever apply it on your skin.

32 CHILDREN MURDERED IN ASSAULT ON HOULA, SYRIA.

 More than ninety civilians including thirty two children under the age of ten were murdered in an assault on innocent civilians in the town of Houla in Syria by the forces of President Bashir Al Assad on Saturday, May 26th 2012, in a bid to crush opposition to his government. The woman who was acquitted of murdering her two year old daughter Caylee in July of 2011 but is widely believed to have done the deed and was only set free due to technicalities, is in the news again. She has been accused of defamation by a woman bearing the same name as the babysitter she accused of kidnapping her child. She told the Police during the investigation into Caylee's murder that a babysitter named Zenaida Gonzalez kidnapped her daughter after her mother, Cindy Anthony, reported to police that she hadn't seen her granddaughter in 31 days and that Casey's car smelt like a dead body had been in it.

THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI

I recently read this life-changing book about a high flying lawyer, Julian Mantle,who at the peak of his career was earning a seven figure income, lived in a huge mansion, owned a second home on a tropical island, access to a private jet and drove a gleaming red Ferrari but was never happy, despite his successes and achievements until he collapsed from a heart attack in the middle of a packed courtroom.The book was related through the voice of the author Robin Sharma.
 At the time, i felt i needed the extra push that motivational books give you, i was about to start a project i felt very passionate about and i needed all the Armour i could get so i asked around and this book was suggested. I got a copy and started reading.At first i was disappointed, the start of the book was a silly story about a green garden, a Sumo wrestler, a stop watch and sparkling diamonds which lead him to a path of everlasting joy and eternal bliss.What i wanted was a bust their balls, i'm charging in kind of book, this one was all calm and serenity but i kept at it and continued reading and then, after the first few chapters, i understood! there are such things as calm strength, a loud silence and the power of true spirituality. The book is about all these.
I read the book religiously, jotted down notes and absorbed the lessons it taught me. Just as Julian enlightened his protegee, i'll also tell you some of the lessons i learnt from ''The Monk who sold his Ferrari" -
- Always do life's hard tasks first - the difference between a successful person and a mediocre one is that they do things that a less successful person doesn't like doing even though they might not like doing them either.
- Developing your WILLPOWER is the key to success - Start by doing the small things you absolutely hate doing , reward yourself, then move on to bigger things.
- Push yourself daily - set daily targets and try to meet them. always have a conversation with yourself at the end of the day about the targets you met and the ones you didn't meet and why
- Do the things you fear - Fear is what separates us from our successes.
- Never, ever procrastinate. Do everything NOW.
- Have a mantra - a mantra is a belief phrase you repeat to yourself over and over to re- orientate your psyche, being anti-social and wary of interacting with people mine is ''The worst anyone can tell you is NO'' and true, it's always either a yes or a no, never a knock on the head.
