What is the penalty for driving on the BRT lane in Lagos??? Men of the military can't be bothered, LASTMA officials can't apprehend them so they do as they please. Nemesis caught up with them yesterday as two military officers incurred the wrath of Governor Fashola when he caught them using the lanes reserved for Lagos state BRT buses. The Governor happened to be around the Marina area and sighted two vehicles cruising on the lane reserved for the BRT buses. He came down from his vehicle and accosted the driver of the first vehicle, a Col K Yusuf of the Nigerian army and his aide, staff Sergeant A.J Adeomi who was driving behind the colonel in a black Toyota Camry.
The colonel on sighting the Gevernor immediately alighted from his car, saluted several times and apologised profusely, repeating ''i am sorry, very very sorry'' with the governor inquiring why a senior military officer would chose to break the law instead of upholding it. The governor said he made a representation to the superiors of the culprits and hoped they would be sanctioned appropriately.

LAGOS SURPASSES CAIRO AS AFRICA'S BIGGEST CITY
According to the Newyork times, Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria is now the largest city in Africa in terms of population. Cairo had formerly held that honour but has been surpassed by the exponential growth of Lagos's population from the 11.2 million estimated by the U.N in 2009 to 21 million in 2012.
Lagos is a city in transition, due to the efforts of the present government in the provision of necessary infrastructure, the beautification of the environment, investments in tourism, the development of the metro rail, introduction of the BRT and many other initiatives by the government, Lagos is gradually morphing into a modern city.
